The film version of the first of Douglas Adams' sci-fi comedy novels is in the works at last and casting has begun in earnest this week.
BBC News reports that "The Office" star Martin Freeman (aka. Tim) has been cast in the lead role of doting Englishman turned intergalactic traveler Arthur Dent - the sole survivor of the human race which gets wiped out to make way for a hyperspace bypass at the start of the story.
"Love Actually" & "Underworld" star Bill Nighy has won the role of alien planet designer Slartibartfast. Nighy, a big fan of the books, says the script is really good - "The people who are making it are very cool people and I think they're going to do a good job.
All the jokes are there and they're big fat jokes. It's wonderful. And with all the technology we have now, it can not only be a big satisfying comedy but I figure it could be quite exciting as well".
Although writer-director Garth Jennings and producer Nick Goldsmith have been linked with the project, no director is set as yet.
Warwick Davis' casting isn't mentioned in the BBC story, however its believed he's testing for the role of the chronically depressed robot Marvin.
Thanks to 'Geoff' & 'Dark Ridge'
