Two of last year's big Oscar contenders - Philip Seymour Hoffman and Michelle Williams - will team for "Synecdoche" reports Production Weekly.
Oscar winning scribe Charlie Kaufman ("Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", "Being John Malkovich", "Adaptation") makes his directorial debut on the project which begins filming early Summer next year.
The story centers on an anguished playwright and several women in his life. Synecdoche is "a figure of speech in which the word for part of something is used to mean the whole."
