Apocalypto Going On The Block?

Yesterday Fox News reported that Mel Gibson's movie "Apocalypto," which Disney was supposed to release on December 8th, is "being shopped" to other potential distributors.

The article cited one potential distributor being Lions Gate who picked up Kevin Smith's "Dogma" and Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" from Disney's speciality division Miramax in the past.

With Disney having recently downsized with the goal of improving the kiddie-friendly brand's market value, the news actually seemed pretty logical in the wake of Gibson's recent DUI arrest and scandal.

However no-one has yet commented and unlike those aforementioned films, its expected that Disney couldn't dump its distribution plans for the film without a major financial penalty.
