TMZ reports that The Walt Disney Company is close to luring Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis and his ImageMovers from DreamWorks Pictures for a multi-year deal.
The news is surprising given Zemeckis' friendship with Steven Spielberg. The duo collaborated on last weekend's "Monster House" at Sony and many other films. But significantly, none of Zemeckis' motion capture films have been released by DreamWorks.
The director's unhappiness with this fact almost led him to leave the studio four years ago but Spielberg saved the deal says the report. For Disney, Zemeckis' animated prowess could help bolster the more Disneyfied slate it's seeking.
