Charles Sturridge is set to write and direct "A Great and Terrible Beauty", a film adaptation of the first novel in Libba Bray's trilogy for Icon Productions reports the trades.
The trilogy follows four rebel teens in Victorian England who gain power from access to a mysterious realm. The first two books in the trilogy were New York Times bestsellers published by Delacorte Books, and a third book is due out next year.
"Beauty" centers on teenager Gemma Doyle, a free spirit raised in India who is sent to a repressive boarding school in England after witnessing the death of her mother. There, she uncovers the mystery of her mother's death, a conspiracy that draws her into a world of magic and deception.
