Nickelodeon Finds Olympic Inspiration

By Garth Franklin Friday June 30th 2006 03:32AM

Nickelodeon Films plans to make a $30 million feature based on Brit director Daryl Goodrich's short "Inspiration," with Goodrich onboard to helm reports Variety.

Tentatively titled "Legend of the Rings," it will expand on the theme of kids inspired to greatness after watching the London 2012 Olympic Games unfold. Goodrich's slick, five-minute short was widely credited with helping London's 2012 Olympic bid beat out stiff competish from rivals Paris and New York in July last year.

Although Goodrich promises "it will be a family film, very much an inspirational one," the Brit duo are keen not to make the film too schmaltzy. He hopes to shoot the film in spring 2007 and release it worldwide before the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
