Southland Gets US Theatrical Release

Despite a critical drubbing at the Cannes Film Festival in May, Richard Kelly's "Southland Tales" has been picked up for domestic release by Sony Home Entertainment.

While it hasn't been decided yet which Sony label will handle the theatrical release, it will be getting a big screen run though. The three-hour cut that ran at the festival in May will be edited down to a shorter runtime for theatrical distribution.

Set in a postapocalyptic Los Angeles circa 2008, the project stars the likes of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Seann William Scott.
