Darkwatch: Curse of the West: "Glen Morgan and James Wong are already attached to adapt Sammy Corp.'s sci-fi Western "Darkwatch: Curse of the West" into a film. The writing-directing-producing duo behind "Final Destination," have developed a pitch, based on the vidgame's plot and action sequences, and are now in the midst of penning a script. "Darkwatch" revolves around a secret organization dedicated to fighting the forces of evil. Game will take place in the Wild West, focusing on a cowboy/train robber named Jericho Cross who is recruited by the org to battle a horde of vampires and other supernatural creatures..." Devour: "Bigel/Mailer Films has set Jensen Ackles, Shannyn Sossamon, Dominique Swain and Bill Adler to star in "Devour," a David Winkler-directed film that has begun shooting in Vancouver. Scripted by Adam and Seth Gross and Roger Wilson from an idea by Winkler, "Devour" is a psychological horror film about a college student (Ackles) who plays an online game in which players commit dangerous acts..." (more info). Home Before Daylight: "Former Showtime programming prexy Jerry Offsay has resurfaced with production shingle Parkchester Pictures, and plans to raise the Dead with his first feature. Offsay has acquired rights to "Home Before Daylight: My Life on the Road With the Grateful Dead," a book written by Steve Parish, who spent 30 years with the band as roadie and senior tour manager, and journalist Joe Layden. The band has pledged to cooperate on the project: guitarist and singer Bob Weir will write the music for the film..." (more info). Night Train: "Ving Rhames will topline and exec produce "Night Train," a long-in-development Sonny Liston biopic with James Woods, Alfre Woodard and Kristanna Loken also expected to star. Project, picked up by Filmcrest Corp. out of turnaround from Paramount, will start shooting in Puerto Rico in mid-June under the direction of Andrzej Sekula..." (more info). Red: "Management-production shingle Circle of Confusion is adapting and producing the Jack Ketchum horror novel "Red". "Red" is the story of a man whose dog is killed by a group of hoodlums and the terror that ensues when he sets out to avenge his pet's death; Lucky McKee will direct..." (more info). Benjamin Button: "Warner Bros. Pictures has boarded Paramount Pictures' long-gestating adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Benjamin Button." Warners will co-finance and co-produce the feature, with Paramount handling domestic and Warners taking on international rights to the film. David Fincher has a three-month holding deal to direct the project about an elderly man who starts aging backwards..." (more info). Mamoru Omae Biopic: "Universal has bought the life rights of a sushi chef-turned-matchmaker and brought on Pablo Zachai to adapt the screenplay. The sushi chef/matchmaker is Mamoru Omae, a successful Tokyo chef who lost everything including the love of his life when the Japanese economy tanked. He ended up running a hole-in-the-wall sushi restaurant where he began getting involved in the love lives of his patrons..." (more info). Ruins: "DreamWorks has optioned Scott Smith's novel "The Ruins" for Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld's studio-based Red Hour Films to produce. As part of the seven-figure deal, Smith, the Oscar-nominated scribe behind "A Simple Plan," has been tapped to adapt his novel for the screen. 2004 Tony Awards: Jackman's Landing reports that Hugh Jackman in "The Boy From Oz" and Alfred Molina in "Fiddler On the Roof" have both been nominated for Best Actor in a Musical at the 2004 Tony Awards. They join Hunter Foster in "Little Shop of Horrors," Euan Morton in "Taboo" and John Tartaglia in "Avenue Q" in the category.
