Director's Chair: Saints, Casa, Einstein

"Writer-director Troy Duffy has mobilized script and cast for a "The Boondocks Saints" sequel, which Fox is ready to finance after it did brisk DVD biz on the first film about two Irish brothers who wipe out the Boston underworld. Though Duffy's movie sunk at the box-office, it reached cult status on DVD even before a recent director's cut edition arrived. Duffy however behind-the-scenes hit assorted complications, partly from studio personnel unhappy with the man himself or his product, and partly part of Duffy's ego and abrasive personality - a documentary covering all this called "Overnight" showed his career trainwreck..." "Walt Disney Pictures has picked up "Mi Casa, Su Casa," a Latino family comedy to be written and produced by Angela Robinson and Alex Martinez Kondracke and will mark Kondracke's feature directorial debut. The story is a comedy about cultural differences set under one roof. Kondracke is the daughter of political pundit Morton Kondracke. "Stephen Herek ("Life Or Something Like It", "Rockstar") has been tapped to write and direct "Einstein's Children" for Gold Circle Films and Thunder Road Films based on Mike Kersjes' memoir "A Smile as Big as the Moon." Kersjes, a special ed teacher in Michigan, thought his students could benefit from space camp where, with help from NASA, children compete in astronaut-training activities. The legendary camp was reserved for gifted students, but Kersjes convinced school officials and NASA to let the class in..." (full details)
