The Player Sequel Possibilities

By Garth Franklin Monday June 5th 2006 04:10PM

Michael Tolkin, the novelist and screenwriter behind "The Player", will be bringing back his character of Griffin Mill for a book sequel to the infamous Hollywood send-up in September entitled "Return of the Player".

Talking with Variety, he spoke of how Hollywood studio business in the last 15 years has changed in that time - "The biggest change is that everyone talks about TV the way they once talked about movies. Something has happened in the movies -- they became restrictive and stupid and overthought. Character has migrated to television".

Would he adapt the book into a another film like the Robert Altman classic? "When I wrote "The Player' I was trying to get out of Hollywood, and for my sins I didn't. This is a novel...I don't know. Maybe it could be a movie".
