With the announcement of Director Len Wiseman being attached last week and some new plot information leaking out, scoops have cropped up over the weekend relating to the next adventure of Detective John McClane in "Die Hard 4.0". Much like "Superman Returns", this is a film that has spent close to a decade in development and after numerous close calls and different stories, its finally going ahead with a new script and helmer.
Aint it Cool managed a first look at the script and describe the plot as terrorists intending to systematically demolish or seize our technological infrastructure via a three-day plan. These guys will gradually step up malfunctions starting with traffic control systems, working towards economic markets, and finally shutting down key utilities like power and water to send the US essentially into a modern Dark Ages.
Like the previous Die Hard's though, an apparent terrorist plot is a smoke screen for the oldest motive in the book - greed. McClane's connection? His just released son, a cyber-thief imprisoned for stealing high security information, who's buddies are the ones behind the plot. Things go badly in their attempt to help the Government and the pair end up on the run.
No characters from the other films are included or even mentioned apparently. Meanwhile, Cinescape has posted up a casting rumour that Scott Speedman is up for the role of the villain Greg Pope, although the scooper cites supporting characters not mentioned in the script review.
