Bloom-ing heck, that Orlando chap is getting about recently and starting to pop up again all over the media outlets in Spain. Lots of coverage emerged today of the first day of filming on Ridley Scott's Crusades epic "Kingdom of Heaven" - here's what should be a helpful breakdown to sort through all the craziness:
First up some great snapshots of the famous locations the film will use are up at Las Horas Perdidas. Amongst the locales are the Loarre Castle, Ávila, Segovia, Cordoba's mosque and Sevilla. Sevilla's Spain Square, last seen as the Naboo palace in "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" is likely to be a location for the film.
Radio Ebro have posted up their report which includes shots of Bloom, Scott and the just arrived Liam Neeson. Some spoiler story details about what to expect in the opening sequence: "After a few sunny and windy days, heaven was quite grey and this was the dramatic required tone to film some burial scenes. Balianīs mother (this is Bloom character, a french crusader) is buried at the beginning of the film and yesterday this part was filmed using artificial snow while Neeson stayed near a cross. A few knights and several goats gave the perfect surrounding."
Over the weekend, spectators saw "green riding horses and Bloom practising being attacked by different real dogs". Bloom's role is apparently that of a "blacksmith in a medieval village which will be attacked, during which his parents are killed. As a result, he joins the Christian Crusades fighting across Europe".
Finally, a video clip of Bloom and Scott arriving on-set is up at A3N TV.
