Picturehouse has acquired all North American rights to Elisabeth Shue starrer "Gracie" loosely based on a real-life chapter from her childhood that will be directed by her husband Davis Guggenheim ("An Inconvenient Truth") reports the trades.
Set in 1978, "Gracie" tells the story of a teenage girl who fights to play on the boys' varsity soccer team after her brother, a soccer champion, dies. In the process, she wins the right for girls everywhere to play.
Andrew Shue, Elisabeth Shue's brother, also will star in the feature, while Carly Schroeder ("Firewall," "Mean Creek") has been cast to play the girl. Shooting begins this summer in New Jersey.
