Walt Disney Pictures' planned fantasy sequel "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" has been moved off the Christmas 2007 release schedule to Summer 2008.
Disney rescheduled mere hours after Sony Pictures circulated an announcement Tuesday staking a claim on December 8th, 2007 for the release of its fantasy adaptation "The Water Horse" - one week before Narnia's debut.
As both films are being made by Walden Media and shot in New Zealand, the films would've cancelled out each other's box-office and so Disney decision to move was not unexpected. The studio has cited extra time needed for production.
