Christian Carion Says Farewell

By Garth Franklin Wednesday May 17th 2006 10:38PM

French helmer Christian Carion ("Joyeux Noel") will next direct the English-language geopolitical thriller "Bonjour Farewell" with shooting to take place next year reports Variety.

Based on true events with a script developed by Eric Raynaud. The story deals with 'The Farewell Dossier', a little-known affair in which French intelligence services tipped off the U.S. about a KGB spy operation believed responsible for massive theft of military and industrial know-how during the Cold War. Once the U.S. knew, they sabotaged the operation by feeding false information that brought Soviet advances to a halt.

Amongst the alleged consequences was the 1982 explosion of the trans-Siberian pipeline, reportedly the largest non-nuclear explosion in global history, and one of the major reasons behind the eventual fall of the Berlin Wall.
