Mindfire Entertainment has announced its plans to turn the popular Eidos video game "Fear Effect" into a feature film, with director Stanley Tong in talks to helm the action picture says The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on a screenplay by Steve Kriozere, the original PlayStation game followed the exploits of three mercenaries named Hana, Deke, and Glas in a parallel universe version of China. Sent to retrieve the young runaway daughter of a powerful businessman, their mission becomes nothing less than a battle for the survival of the planet against the King of Hell.

Producer Mark A. Altman described the movie as "Mission: Impossible" meets "Silent Hill," adding that the film will faithfully follow the story line of the game. It will be set 10 years in the future rather an alternate world.
