James Wan Talks His Death Sentence

Aussie filmmaker James Wan ("Saw") has been talking up his next project "Death Sentence" to Bloody Disgusting and like most young directors, seems a little too over excited says Bloody Disgusting.

He describes the project's tone as a throwback to the gritty, revenge thriller of the 70's along the lines of Dirty Harry, The French Connection and Death Wish.

Plot wise - "It's a story about a father, a white-collar office man, declaring war on the brutal gang that attacked his family. And the consequences that come with putting down the briefcase and picking up a double-barrelled shotgun".

He adds that "It's a character study movie with brutal set-pieces and a shoot-out that is like the end of Taxi Driver, but times ten. I'm approaching this film with the kind of raw and intense energy found in film-school, guerilla film-making. To me, this is a horror movie, but of the realistic kind".
