'TheRegent' has just dropped in with some good news for fans of the old "Babylon 5" sci-fi series. There's been some speculation that creator J. Michael Straczynski has been working on something new in the B5 universe, and finally word from JMS himself has appeared on his online forum indicating not one but several projects seem to be in the works, one sounding a lot like a film spin-off:
"In a project of this nature, and this size, there's stage one (let's do this) stage two (let's make everybody's deal) and stage three (making it). We're hip-deep in stage two just now, and it's taking a freaking long amount of time to get through it all. Stage two is also the most unnerving and nerve-wracking stage when there's a lot of money involved, as there is in this situation".
Sigh, doesn't anyone get sick of being cryptic these days. Meanwhile speaking of old sci-fi series with potential new incarnations, Producer Kevin Burns and actor Dick Tufeld talked with L.I.S.A. fanclub president Glen Ware about the new "Lost in Space" series pilot, here's the breakdown:
"First of all there was a meeting between DT, KB and Sheila Allen on Saturday (at KB's house) where a rough cut of the LIS pilot was screened. Dick is very excited by what he has seen describing it as 'superb'. As was reported last week in various places, Dick will be voicing the new Robot BUT what Dick has reported now is sure to bring a smile to our faces. The 'new robot' is to be changed to something more acceptable to fans. It will be done via CGI and the skeletal patchwork one will be gone!!
There have been some major changes behind the scenes. Doug Petrie has been fired. Petrie wanted to take the new LIS as far away from the original as possible and this led to him leaving due to 'artistic problems'. KB now has more 'artistic control and it is thought that more of the LIS that we knew will come back. KB is leaning towards re-recording the John Williams music to be used in the new series - the copy shown at KB's place was without proper music cues and finished effects but Dick likes what he sees".
In news of a whole other genre of show, KungFuCinema reports that Chuck Norris is rumored to be interested in making a feature film version of his popular series "Walker, Texas Ranger". A reader reports that Kevin Bode, a stuntman who worked on the show was being interviewed about the upcoming World Stunt Awards on radio station KRBE and mentioned Norris' intentions. Bode reportedly went on to say that Norris is working on a script and feels the time is right for a big screen comeback. Although a regular fixture on television, Norris hasn't been seen in theaters since 1995's "Top Dog".
Thanks to 'Dave', 'Shan', 'MikeJ' & 'TheRegent',
