The last of the major studio previews for what's in store in 2004 has finally arrived with Universal posting new shots from their upcoming line-up for this year:
"Along Came Polly" - After being dumped by his wife on their honeymoon for a scuba instructor. A humiliated control freak (Ben Stiller) has a chance encounter with an adventure-craving, globe-trotting friend (Jennifer Aniston) who forces him to try living in the moment.
"Bourne Supremacy, The" - After the Chinese vice-premier is brutally murdered, the world believes it to be the work of Jason Bourne, master assassin. The real man (Matt Damon) is innocent and must track down the impostor is and save the life of the woman he loves. (pic - top center & right)
"Chronicles of Riddick, The" - The fugitive Riddick (Vin Diesel) finds himself imprisoned and forced to lead a rebellion on the planet Helion which has been invaded by a zealot who targets humans for subjugation with his army of warriors known as Necromongers. (pic - top left)
"Cinderella Man" - Set in New York during the Depression, this is the story of James Braddock (Russell Crowe), who takes up boxing to make money to feed his family, and ends up becoming quite famous - going up against champ Max Baer notorious for having killed two men in the ring.
"Connie & Carla" - From Nia Vardalos ("My Big Fat Greek Wedding"). Two traveling female dinner theater singers, Connie and Carla are forced to go undercover and disguise themselves as drag queens while performing in Los Angeles in order to rescue one of their siblings.
"Dawn of the Dead" - The remake of George Romero's horror classic Dawn of the Dead which revolved around a swarm of slow-moving cannibalistic corpses who snack on the inhabitants of a shopping mall. This will have a greater emphasis on action rather than gore or satire.
"Imagining Argentina" - Set in Buenos Aires during a military junta in the late 1970's, this is the story of an Argentinean playwright (Antonio Banderas) with the psychic ability to see the locations of the missing loved ones of people by looking at their faces.
"Inside Deep Throat" - This documentary examines the cultural phenomenon that was 1972 X-rated porn movie 'Deep Throat,' which became (and still is) the most successful independently-produced movie ever with a worldwide gross of $600 million on a budget of just $25,000.
"Meet the Fokkers" - Having given permission to male nurse Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) to wed his daughter, ex-CIA man Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro) and his wife (Danner) travel to Detroit to "meet the parents", who this time around are Mr. and Mrs. Focker, who are as different from them as can be.
"Quest, The" - This documentary shows what happens when seven guys from the University of Colorado are picked to go on a wild spring break in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where they are expected to carry on and participate in all sorts of "ca-raazzy" beach activities.
"Thunderbirds" - Based on the 1960s UK show, this follows the Tracy family and their top-secret International Rescue organization. Called away on a mission, a criminal known only as 'The Hood' invades Tracy Island, IR's secret base in the hope of using it for his own evil needs. (pic - top of page & bottom left)
"Two Brothers" - The story of twin tiger brothers who are born amidst the temple ruins and exotic jungles of French Indo-China. Separated as cubs and taken into captivity, one tiger is forced to become a circus performer, the other a trained killer - stars Guy Pearce.
"Van Helsing" - In turn of the century England, monster killer Dr. Abraham Van Helsing must head to Eastern Europe with a rich family heiress committed to destroying the evil vampire Count Dracula. Along the way they must tackle the Wolf Man, and Frankenstein's Monster. (pic - bottom center)
"Wimbledon" - In just two summer weeks, a British tennis player who was ranked 157th in the world gets his one last chance to win both the All-England Lawn Tennis Championships on the grassy courts of Wimbledon... and the heart of the rising star "bad girl of tennis". (pic - bottom right)
