Italian actress Giovanna Mezzogiorno has joined Javier Bardem on the $35 million-$40 million budgeted "Love in the Time of Cholera" reports Production Weekly.
Based on the bestselling novel by Gabriel Marcia Marquez, the story follows an unrequited love affair in central America that spans fifty years as two lovers wait out careers, marriages, affairs and deaths until they can reunite.
Shooting begins August 15th in Brazil, under the direction of Mike Newell ("Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire") and a screenplay by Ron Harwood ("The Pianist").
