Evan Rachel Wood will join Michael Douglas on "The King of California" scheduled to begin shooting in May reports Production Weekly.
The quirky father/daughter comedy follows a teenager girl who must be the grown-up to her eccentric unstable father. Their roles change when he manages to convince her that Spanish gold is buried under the Wal-Mart next to the Simi Valley development where they live.
The film marks the feature directing debut of Michael Cahill, best known for his novel "A Nixon Man" which won the Faulkner Prize.
