MGM Talks Next Bond Rumours

By Garth Franklin Wednesday April 21st 2004 04:35PM

With all the speculation swirling around and Brosnan himself regularly commenting that he's all finished with 007, it's surprising to note that MGM has never commented on any speculative casting (aside from shooting rumours down) and have always labelled Pierce as 'their Bond'...until now.

CBN indicates that Variety spoke with MGM vice chairman and COO Chris McGurk who at last confirmed that they are writing the script and Brosnan isn't a lock as this one is being written "for a generic Bond". Otherwise rumours of potential delays and Eon/MGM arguments as such are all crap with everything is currently proceeding on schedule:

"All creative decisions are mutual between the studio and the producers. They make recommendations and both sides can say yea or nay. We're going to go through the same process on this one. Like any good production relationship between top-tier producers and a studio, you're always going to have disagreements. We had a lot of disagreements on the last Bond, and they all got sorted out to everybody's satisfaction".

Production is still aiming to begin "early next year" for a probable November 2005 release, McGurk says. Decisions about a director, and who will play Bond, will be made "in the next few months."

Thanks to 'John'
