Jonathan Liebesman ("Darkness Falls", "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning") is in negotiations to direct Platinum Dunes' remake/prequel of "Friday the 13th" for New Line Cinema.
Set to explore the origins of serial killer Jason Voorhees, the remake will incorporate components of the films, Jason will wear the mask, and the action will be set around Crystal Lake.
Mark Wheaton penned the script with production on the fast track to get it in theatres by October 13th, 2006.
