Edward Burns Takes A Holiday

By Garth Franklin Friday February 17th 2006 10:41AM

Edward Burns has joined the cast of the Nancy Meyers-directed comedy "Holiday" for Columbia Pictures reports Variety.

Burns also is making an effort to return to his auteur roots, having just completed "Purple Violets," an indie drama he wrote and produced. Burns stars with Selma Blair, Debra Messing and Patrick Wilson. Blair plays a scribe struggling to meet unrealized expectations that she would become the next important American writer.

Next, he has a summer start date in the Hamptons and Montauk on his script "Five-Fourths," and he'll follow that project with the first leg of a trilogy, a multigenerational drama about a New York family of cops.
