The central villain of the forthcoming James Bond film "Casino Royale" is now officially cast. Le Chiffre will be played by Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, announced by director Martin Campbell at the Prague press conference on Wednesday.

40 year-old Mikkelsen will be best known to cinema goers for his role as Tristan in "King Arthur" (2004). In the book, Le Chiffre - also known as the Number or the Cipher - is a banker for terrorists and criminals with a penchant for torture. Le Chiffre is rumored to have been inspired by British occultist Aleister Crowley.

The role of love interest Vesper Lynd is the sole key role left to be cast, though has been narrowed down to "two or three". Finally Judi Dench confirmed she only began working with Daniel Craig yesterday, and said we;ll see more insight into M's back story than they ever have to date - including a scene set in her London apartment.

The cast and crew jet off to the Bahamas shortly to shoot a chase sequence at seaside construction site, then will be back to Prague for studio and location work before moving onto Italy and the UK.
