The Trade papers today are speaking more about old men with young boys today than your average Catholic Church federal investigation, the difference here though is that these people are also some damn fine actors.
The Hollywood Reporter indicates that John Malkovich has hopped onboard "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", the adaptation of the Douglas Adams sci-fi comedy novel series classic, for Spyglass Entertainment/Walt Disney Pictures. Malkovich will play a religious cult leader called Humma Kavula, created by Adams especially for the film.
USA Today reports that English acting legend Terence Stamp has joined the "Daredevil" spin-off "Elektra" alongsideJennifer Garner. IGN Filmforce soon found out that whilst the deal isn't finalised, the role is that of Elektra's grizzled, elder mentor Stick. Marvel describes the character thus: "Elektra later joined the noble order of warriors led by Stick. She honed her fighting skills to the peak of human perfection, but Stick saw that Elektra was filled with pain over her father's death and with hatred for the world she blamed for it".
UK Yahoo reports that Jamie Bell might be up for a role in Tim Burton's new adaptation of cult Roald Dahl book "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory". The "Billy Elliot" star was seen pouring over a copy of the movie's script during a recent flight across the Atlantic. Although it's likely that the young man is a touch old to play the the impoverished Charlie Bucket.
Finally, Variety reports that a religious storm looks to be brewing in France after a Catholic fraternity in Montpellier successfully had the trailer for Pedro Almodovar's new pic "The Bad Education" pulled from all of the southern French city's Gaumont screens. The trailer features Gael Garcia Bernal and other actors in drag and flirting/arguing with priests and young men dressed only in skimpy underwear (sounds like my high school). Funnily enough, this is also the film that will open next month's Cannes Film Festival.
