"Moulin Rouge" and "Romeo + Juliet" director Baz Luhrmann is scheduled to begin principal photography in July or August on his Australian-set period epic reports Production Weekly.
Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe star in the film which begins rehearsals in May and is described as a "Gone With the Wind"-esque romance set around the time of World War II. The film will be shot in the remote Kimberley region of Western Australia on a set created from scratch by Luhrmann.
Luhrmann is collaborating with "Collateral" screenwriter Stuart Beattie on the film, which is expected to be released through 20th Century Fox.
