The massive cast of "Crash," Paul Haggis' drama about racial tensions in Los Angeles, was named best film ensemble Sunday at the 12th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles which split its five film awards evenly across five different films.

Philip Seymour Hoffman and Reese Witherspoon took home the trophies for best male and female actor in a motion picture for their work in "Capote" and "Walk the Line" respectively. Paul Giamatti and Rachel Weisz took home gongs for best supporting roles in "Cinderella Man" and "The Constant Gardener" respectively.

On the small screen, best drama ensemble went to "Lost" and best comedy ensemble to "Desperate Housewives". Kiefer Sutherland and Sandra Oh took best actors in a drama series for "24" and "Grey's Anatomy", Felicity Huffman and Sean Hayes took best actors in a comedy for "Desperate Housewives" and "Will & Grace". Paul Newman and S. Epatha Merkerson took home best made for TV movie gongs.

The most notable absence from the SAG awards was "Brokeback Mountain" which didn't win any of its nominations. Then again the night before it cleaned up at the 58th Annual Director's Guild Awards. Ang Lee's gay western love story won best feature, a very good sign for Lee as the winner of the award has won the best director Oscar in 51 of the past 57 years (the membership of the two academies overlap greatly).
