Skeletons of the Sahara: "Intermedia and DreamWorks are teaming up on "Skeletons of the Sahara," a film based on the nonfiction book by Dean H. King about the trials of several American sailors who were shipwrecked off the coast of North Africa in 1815, captured by the Bedouins and sold into slavery. Shooting is expected to begin by the end of the year..." (more info). Sydney Studios: "The second major film studio complex in Sydney, Serenity Cove Studios, will open the doors of two of its six soundstages in July. The facility at Kurnell on Botany Bay will expand the city's capacity to handle major U.S. and other international films, augmenting the Fox Studios Australia lot..." (more info). Gotta Dance: "MGM has snapped up Josh A. Cagan's spec "Gotta Dance," plunking down $300,000 against $650,000. Walter Hamada, Chris Fenton and Jonathan Hung of H2F Entertainment are attached to produce. The story, described as a broad comedic male version of "Flashdance," centers on an overweight construction worker who finds out that he is the long-lost son of the greatest ballet dancer in history..." Remember Me, My Love: "Howard Cohen and Eric d'Arbeloff's indie film banner, Roadside Attractions, has acquired North American rights to Italian helmer Gabriele Muccino's "Remember Me, My Love," a family drama toplining Monica Bellucci. "Love," a bittersweet tale about the lives and loves of a modern Italian family whose individual aspirations threaten to pull them apart, screened at the Toronto and Sundance festivals last year and racked up more than $12 million in its homeland release..."
