Indie filmmaker Abel Ferrara's next project is set to be a prequel to the Christopher Walken-led 1990 crime thriller "King of New York" reports Production Weekly.

Entitled "The Last Crew", the story is set in the 1970's when New York City was on the verge of bankruptcy and crime was rampant. Mobster Frank White has a special agreement with President Carter's chief-of-staff which essentially gives him a license to kill.

Amongst his victims - a childhood friend turned loose cannon, an ex-girlfriend turned FBI agent, a Saudi car importer, and a drug dealer. Project shoots on-location in NYC at the end of March.
