Trade Breaks: Code, America, Seed, Suicide

Oscar-winner Hans Zimmer will compose the score to Ron Howard's film adaptation of Dan Brown's best-selling novel, The Da Vinci Code. This highly-anticipated film from Columbia Pictures and Imagine Entertainment is set for release on May 19, 2006. Zimmer has the distinction of having scored more than 100 films during his illustrious career. In 1994, he won the Academy AwardŽ for Best Original Score for the animated feature The Lion King, and has also been nominated for his work on six other films: Gladiator, The Prince of Egypt, The Thin Red Line, As Good As It Gets, The Preacher's Wife and Rain Man.

Lead actress Milla Jovovich left the Roland Emmerich penned & produced, and Marco Kreuzpaintner directed crime/drama "Welcome to America" a while back, reasons unknown. Milla's last-minute replacement is Polish-born actress Alicja Bachleda-Curus, who played the female lead in the director's previous movie back in Germany (2004's "Summer Storm"). Meanwhile Kathleen Gati (The Russian First Lady on this season's "24") and Pavel Lychnikoff (HBO's "Deadwood") will play a Russian gangster couple.

"Uwe Boll is taking a break from video games and will soon begin filming "Seed" an original concept based on a screenplay of his own - "There's a rule that if you're electrocuted three times and you're still alive, you go free. In "Seed," the main character is subject to a failed electrocution, and desperate officials bury him alive. He digs himself out of the grave and goes on a revenge trip". "Go Code Prods. will begin shooting dark comedy "My Suicide" this week with Gabriel Sunday ("Now You See It") toplining. Written by Eric J. Adams and director David Lee Miller, the project centers on a teenage outcast who reveals he's going to film his own suicide, resulting in instant celebrity -- along with a community-wide effort to save him.
