Art Con: "Albert Hughes ("From Hell") has signed to direct "Art Con," an MGM film being developed by Michael Douglas' Furthur Films as a potential star vehicle for the actor in which he'd play a charming con man who masterminds ambitious art fraud scandals. Latest draft of the script was written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade ("Die Another Day")..." (more info).

Guerrilla Radio: "Producers Kathleen Kennedy, Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen will make a movie about how the power of rock 'n' roll helped oust the repressive regime of Yugoslavian strongman Slobodan Milosevic. The producers have optioned the Matthew Collin book "Guerrilla Radio: Rock 'n' Roll Radio and Serbia's Underground Resistance," and set Zach Helm ("The Secret Life of Walter Mitty") to write the script..." (more info). Occult: "Twentieth Century Fox has paid mid-six figures for scribe Ari Schlossberg's untitled occult pitch. Details of the storyline are being closely guarded by the studio. Schlossberg most recently penned the Robert DeNiro starrer "Hide and Seek," which sold as a spec in November 2002..." (more info). Sweet & Vicious: "Universal has optioned David Schickler's upcoming novel, "Sweet and Vicious," and hired the author to pen the screenplay. Scott Frank will produce the story which concerns a diamond thief hiding out in a small Wisconsin town and the girl at the car wash who falls in love with him..." (more info). Assault on Precinct 13: "Rapper Ja Rule has joined the cast of "Assault on Precinct 13," Focus Features' remake of the 1976 John Carpenter film. Ethan Hawke and Laurence Fishburne topline the pic. Ja Rule plays Smiley, a small-time crook whose latest crime lands him in transport with the mobster, and he becomes trapped in the precinct when the assault begins..." (more info). Happy Endings: "Laura Dern, Tom Arnold, Jason Ritter, David Sutcliffe and Johnny Galecki are poised to join Maggie Gyllenhaal in Don Roos' "Happy Endings" for Lions Gate Films. Shooting starts next week. The ensemble contemporary comedy is set in Los Angeles involving three intertwining stories among 10 characters. Gyllenhaal, Lisa Kudrow, Jesse Bradford, Bobby Cannavale and Steve Coogan are already set..." (more info). Slay the Bully: "Ryan Pinkston (MTV's "Punk'd") is in negotiations to star in "Slay the Bully" for New Line Cinema. Dennis Lee is making his feature directorial debut on the project. The story follows an eighth-grader (Pinkston) who moves to a new town. He is immediately mistaken for having beaten the resident bully to a pulp, and a rematch is set for the wrestling ring..." The Clearing: The Robert Redford kidnap drama is moving to a July 2nd release. Will & Grace (TV): E! Online reports that Debra Messing will miss the last three episodes as her doctor has ordered her off her feet for the remainder of her pregnancy. A producer for the show said they've written around her.
