Teletext reports that filming on the long-awaited "The League Of Gentlemen" movie is set to begin in the autumn. Star Steve Pembleton says "Hopefully we'll be filming it in September and October. I think the financial deal will all be sorted out by Easter but I'm totally confident we'll make it this year".
Til now, economics on the 90-minute sitcom film adaptation has been a sticking point for why it hasn't gone ahead til now - "Hopefully this time next year it will be in cinemas. It will be an amazing achievement because the finance has been the main stumbling block. There is a good commitment to stumping up the money for the film. We are trying to get as much money as possible for the budget".
The film version of the Brit series will see characters Tubbs, Edward and Pauline trying to save the village of Royston Vasey from forces threatening to wipe out their business. Shooting is expected to take place in Ireland or the Isle of Man as well as Derbyshire and London.
Thanks to 'Victor'.
