Syfy has officially greenlit the six-hour miniseries "Childhood's End," based on Arthur C. Clarke's iconic 1953 novel.
The story follows a peaceful alien invasion of Earth by the mysterious 'Overlords,' whose arrival begins decades of apparent utopia under indirect alien rule, at the cost of human identity and culture.
Dave Howe, president of Syfy, labels the project the network's most ambitious in many years. Matthew Graham ("Life on Mars," "Ashes to Ashes") will adapt the book for the screen, while Nick Hurran ("Sherlock") will direct.
Akiva Goldsman and Mike De Luca are attached as executive producers.
