Saw
Lionsgate has announced plans for a re-release of the original 2004 franchise launching horror film "Saw" in a limited nationwide run this Halloween.

"Saw" will open for a one week 10th anniversary engagement on Friday, October 31st with Thursday midnights in select locations. The micro budget serial killer film spawned a seven film franchise that has grossed $874 million worldwide. [Source: Lionsgate]

Triple Nine
Open Road Films has announced a September 11th 2015 release for John Hillcoat's heist thriller "Triple Nine". Chiwetel Ejiofor, Casey Affleck, Anthony Mackie, Woody Harrelson, Aaron Paul, Kate Winslet, Gal Godot and Norman Reedus star.

The story centers on a crew of crooked cops executing a heist during which they must manufacture a 999 call, police code for "officer down". The plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack. [Source: THR]

Departure
David Frankel ("The Devil Wears Prada") is set to direct the sci-fi romance tale "Departure" for Good Universe. Billy Ray ("Shattered Glass," "Breach") penned the script.

The story follows a brilliant FAA investigator who is obsessed with learning how a 727 suddenly vanished into thin air and then reappeared in the exact same spot ten minutes later. Soon, mysterious occurrences continue to occur with increasing frequency in the skies over Miami. [Source: Deadline]

The Look of Silence
Drafthouse Films has picked up the U.S. rights to "The Look of Silence," director Joshua Oppenheimer's upcoming follow-up to last year's beloved documentary "The Act of Killing".

This quasi-sequel deals with a family of survivors of the Indonesian genocide who discover how their son was murdered and the identity of the men who killed him. The youngest brother confronts the men responsible for his brother's murder. [Source: The Playlist]

The World Made Straight
Millennium Entertainment has acquired all domestic rights to the film adaptation of Ron Rash's post-Civil War novel "The World Made Straight" with a February 2015 release planned.

The story is set in a dangerous world where one rebellious young man (Jeremy Irvine) struggles to decide between the dark path he is on and the chance at a new life. Minka Kelly, Noah Wyle, Adelaide Clemens and Haley Joel Osment also star. [Source: THR]
