Pop singer Avril Lavigne is taking a break from music this week to shoot a handful of scenes in New Mexico for the indie crime drama "The Flock".
MTV News reports that the 21-year-old singer is just testing the waters with a few lines in the film which has Richard Gere playing a federal agent who has to track down a missing girl he is convinced has a connection to the paroled sex offender he is tracking.
The spokesperson would not reveal any more information about Lavigne's character, but said that the singer has a couple more projects she plans to work on - among them voicing a possum in the animated DreamWorks film "Over the Hedge". Lavigne is expected to start recording her next album mid- to late 2006.
