Lifetime has given a six-episode straight to series pickup to "Damien," former "The Walking Dead" showrunner Glen Mazzara's new TV series take on "The Omen" films.
Mazzara, Ross Fineman and Pancho Mansfield will executive produce this reimagining of Fox's supernatural horror film series which began in 1976. The new series ignores the original two sequels, though narratively seems to borrow most heavily from the second film.
In this version, Damien Thorn has grown up into an adult and is seemingly unaware of the satanic forces around him. Haunted by his past, Damien must come to terms with his true destiny - that he is the Antichrist.
Lifetime GM Rob Sharenow says Mazzara has re-imagined the character as a "dark, romantic, anti-hero". The show is slated to premiere in 2015.
