Whilst comic creator Mark Millar says the fate of a third "Kick-Ass" film is still up in the air, the chances of it happening aren't looking good. Further hammering a nail in its coffin today comes a quote from the franchise's scene stealer Chloe Grace Moretz who plays Hit-Girl in the films.
Speaking with Digital Spy during promo rounds for "If I Stay," the actress was asked about reprising the role down the line. She said: "Sadly, I think I'm done with the character. Hit-Girl was a very cool character, but I don't think there will be any more movies."
She also has an idea as to what was to blame for the second film's failure, and it wasn't the poor reviews: "Kick-Ass 2 was one of the number one pirated movies of the year, but that doesn't help us because we need box office figures. We need to prove to the distributors that we can make money from a third and a fourth movie - but because it didn't do so well, we can't make another one."
She may not play Hit-Girl again, but she is open to playing another superhero and is actively looking at comics for potential roles: "I try to keep abreast on what's out there and what's being made. We're getting a lot of source material from books and comics right now, so it's a great place to look."
