"Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch is set to play a different kind of Khan as he joins the voice cast of "Jungle Book: Origins" for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Cumberbatch will voice Shere Khan, the man-eating tiger and villain of Rudyard Kipling's classic tale of a boy named Mowgli who is raised by jungle animals.
Andy Serkis makes his directorial debut on the movie which is expected to be quite faithful to the dark material and sport an adult sensibility. Callie Kloves adapted the script.
The project is in competition with Jon Favreau's more family friendly adaptation at Disney Pictures. That version will star Idris Elba as the voice of Shere Kahn.
