"District 9" star Sharlto Copley and former "Star Trek: The Next Generation" regular and "The Killing" star Michelle Forbes have scored the lead roles in the long-gestating TV series adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis' comic "Powers" for the PlayStation Network.
Copley plays Christian Walker, a cop with darkness and violence at his surface but with a sense of buried integrity. Walker works in the Powers division of the police force and deals with crimes involving those endowed with special abilities. The character once had powers but lost them in a battle with a super-human mass killer.
Forbes plays Retro Girl, the undisputed super star of the Powers community who is an icon of justice, selflessness and business acumen. Her willingness to put herself at risk for the good of others is matched only by her ability to manage her globe-spanning personal brand. Carly Foulkes took on the character in the FX pilot.
The project has a straight to series, ten-episode order. It follows a failed adaptation over at FX which only went to pilot. That version starred Jason Patric and Carly Foulkes.
The new take is currently slated to debut on the PlayStation Network in December.
