As previously reported, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" directors the Russo Brothers are set to return for the third film in the series which aims to shoot early next year. Before that, they'll take the helm of a few episodes of ABC's "Agent Carter".
Now, talking with Yahoo Movies, the pair confirm that "Captain America 3" will take place a few years after 'Winter Soldier', and Steve Rogers' relationship with Bucky Barnes will play a key part.
Anthony Russo says: "The character was invented for an explicitly political purpose. So it’s hard to get away from that nature, [but we're] bringing some new elements to the table that will give us a twist on Winter Soldier."
The script for the new entry is being worked on, and it's expected we won't know much about the film's setup until "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and the events within are revealed next year.
Meanwhile, two deleted scenes from "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" have gone online, the two clips giving us more time with Maria Hill and Alexander Pierce.
