An extensive article over at Deadline this morning talks about the future of Sony's "Amazing Spider-Man" franchise and how the studio is planning a major revamp of the property.
The biggest news is that the studio is pursing a female superhero movie based on the rights of one of the Marvel comics characters they own. That film is being eyed for a potential 2017 release date and is using a script to be penned by Lisa Joy Nolan ("Burn Notice," "Westworld"). Possibilities include the likes of Silver Sable, Black Cat, Stunner, Firestarter and Spider-Woman.
Drew Goddard's "Sinister Six" is still very much in play with a November 11th 2016 release still being targeted. The site also claims the Venom spin-off movie is still in play with "Venom Carnage" reportedly the current title. Alex Kurtzman and Ed Solomon are presently still scripting the project.
