It's one of Marvel Studios' riskiest films to date, and film critics are rewarding them for it. James Gunn's fun space opera "Guardians of the Galaxy" has pulled in a 92% and 7.7/10 on Rotten Tomatoes along with a 76/100 Metacritic, making it one of the best scoring wide releases of the year so far.
The box-office looks set to reward them too with better than expected early numbers indicating the film is slated to not only surpass its $60-70 million opening weekend estimates, but fly right by them and potentially garner in the $90+ million range.
The ultimate question is though, what did you think about it? I thoroughly enjoyed it, a fun romp that's one of Marvel Studios' best films to date. It fumbles a bit on the exposition-heavy first act, and the villains a bit under developed, but otherwise it's just a blast and (unlike other Marvel films) the third act is the strongest.
