On the eve of Comic Con, Sony Pictures has drastically shuffled about its dates for both the next "The Amazing Spider-Man" and its proposed "Sinister Six" spin-off movie.
"The Sinister Six" is now set to debut on November 11th 2016. The company is reportedly high on Drew Goddard's take on the material which remains only a "rough script at this point". Goddard is set to write and direct the project.
The real news though is "The Amazing Spider-Man" films. The third one was originally slated for June 10th 2016 while the fourth was for May 4th 2018. That's out the window now.
Instead, "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" has been shifted to a generalised Summer 2018 release - a whopping delay of two years. The extra time will hopefully be enough for the filmmakers to hammer out issues and properly develop the next entry following the poor critical reception and underwhelming box-office of the second.
Sony hasn't left that June 10th 2016 release spot empty though, instead they're moving their proposed film adaptation of the popular "Uncharted" video game series into the slot.
