A few months ago Dwayne Johnson revealed that he and Warner Bros. Pictures had been having discussions for quite some time about the actor playing a DC Comics character on the big screen.
Johnson has been linked to the likes of galactic antihero biker Lobo, the villain Black Adam and the hero Captain Marvel who is a boy that turns into a hero by saying the word Shazam.
Today, in an interview with Total Film promoting "Hercules," Johnson says they have narrowed down the possibilities to one character and it will be announced soon. He even suggests who this character might be:
"I will say this. There's a character out there that we're going to announce very soon that I'm going to play, and I'll just say this: This character has the power of Superman... and it's not Green Lantern by the way... he can throw down. Just say the word. That's all I'm going to say."
Last month came rumors that a "Shazam" solo film would follow the upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and a July 2016 release is being targeted. Could the announcement Johnson is referring to be made at this Saturday's Warners panel at the San Diego Comic-Con?
