The Los Angeles Times has unveiled the first still from "Lava," the new short film set to premiere in front of their next animated feature "Inside Out" next June. The entirely musical short follows a lonely volcano named Uku who wishes he had "someone to lava". The short will have its first screening at the Hiroshima International Animation Festival in Japan on Monday.
Steven Spielberg's upcoming live-action film adaptation of the Roald Dahl children's classic "The BFG" has scored its first release date. The movie is said to be targeting a July 22nd 2016 release worldwide, which puts it up against Guy Ritchie's "King Arthur" project.
In a statement, Spielberg says: "It is fitting that the UK is the first international country to announce the date of The BFG, a story that sprang from the imagination of this proud son from Wales. We at DreamWorks Studios hope our film will add to Roald Dahl's prolific legacy of entertainment." [Source: Empire]
CBS Films has scored U.S. rights to Pathe International's upcoming UK comedy drama "Pride" starring stars Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, Dominic West, Paddy Considine, Andrew Scott and Joseph Gilgun.

The Weinstein Company and Walden Media are teaming up with Fathom Events to stream the Monday August 11th red carpet premiere of the upcoming young adult novel adaptation "The Giver" to more than 250 theaters across the country.
