Former "30 Rock" scene stealer Alec Baldwin is in talks while "The White Queen" star Rebecca Ferguson has reportedly scored the female lead role in "Mission: Impossible 5" for Skydance and Paramount.
While no formal offer has been presented, Ferguson is reportedly the top choice of the three parties who matter - star Tom Cruise, director Chris McQuarrie and the studio.
Drew Pearce penned the script and while story details are unknown, Ferguson's character is said to be some sort of assassin. Baldwin on the other hand would play a high-ranking CIA official who oversees Cruise's division.
This is reportedly the role Jessica Chastain turned down to scheduling, it's a part that requires months of intense training leading up to and during the shoot.
Cruise, David Ellison and J.J. Abrams are producing.
