"Gone Girl" author Gillian Flynn, "Buffy" producer Marti Noxon and "Insidious" producer Jason Blum are teaming for a TV series adaptation of Flynn's 2006 debut novel "Sharp Objects" which eOne Television has given a pilot order for.
The story follows a journalist named Camille, fresh out of the psych ward, who is assigned to cover the murders of two preteen girls in her tiny hometown. She returns to her family's Victorian mansion where her neurotic mother, and the mysterious 13-year-old half-sister she barely knows, reside.
She soon takes up residence in her old bedroom and finds herself identifying with the young victims a bit too strongly. She must also unravel the psychological puzzle of her own past if she wants to get the story and get out of their alive.
Noxon will serve as showrunner and pen the script. Flynn, Blum and Charles Layton will executive produce.
