Sylvester Stallone will star and Brad Furman is onboard to direct the true story biopic "Scarpa" at Millennium Films. The project aims to begin shooting very early next year.
Stallone will star as Gregory Scarpa, a chief enforcer for Colombo crime family boss Carmine Persico. Scarpa was also known as the 'Grim Reaper' and was one of the most famous sociopaths in the world of organized crime.
Scarpo boasted of fifty murders in the name of the 'family' and became an FBI informant. He was ultimately indicted for multiple murders and died of AIDS-related complications in a Minnesota prison.
"Goodfellas" and "Casino" scribe Nicholas Pileggi penned the script, while Irwin Winkler ("Rocky") and Avi Lerner ("The Expendables") will produce.
