They have been playing coy about it for months, never quite confirming it. Now, finally, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema have announced "The Conjuring" spin-off will officially be titled "Annabelle" and will be released, as expected, on October 3rd.
Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton and Alfre Woodard star in the film which deals with the haunted doll seen in the opening sequence of "The Conjuring" and resides as part of a collection of demonic objects assembled by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
The first film's cinematographer John Leonetti is directing the spin-off from a script by Gary Gauberman. The release pits it against David Fincher's "Gone Girl" and the Reese Witherspoon-led refugee drama "The Good Lie."
